Poland’s 1.5-MW Zawada goes on line

Equipment manufacturer Mavel a.s. of the Czech Republic has completed commissioning of the 1.5-MW Zawada hydroelectric project on southern Poland’s Odra River.

The plant, owned by HCS Wroclaw, Spolka z.o.o., has two horizontal Kaplan turbines with 3,000-millimeter-diameter runners. The plant has a flow of 43 cms and a head range of from 1.7 to 2.5 meters.

Mavel, which specializes in hydro turbines of from 25 kW to more than 25 MW, said it completed work on the project in May.
