Russian equipment manufacturer Power Machines OJSC has signed a contract to supply four hydro turbine units for the Nizhne-Bureyskaya hydroelectric plant in the eastern Amur region.
The contract — offered by RusHydro subsidiary Nizhne-Bureyskaya HPP OJSC — includes the design, manufacture, supply and installation of four 80 MW turbines with adjustable blades. Power Machines will also supply an automated control system, a hydrogenerator with excitation system as well as auxiliary equipment.
Commissioning of the Nizhne-Bureyskaya turbines is expected to begin in 2015 and continue through 2016.
HydroWorld.com previously reported that RusHydro had signed an agreement in May 2009 with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and J-Power of Japan to study the development of the project.
Other machinery manufactured by Power Machines was recently put into commercial operation at Russia’s 3,000-MW Bocuchanskaya project earlier this month.
