Repainting of siphon sought by 2,099-MW Swiss complex

Switzerland’s 2,099-MW Cleuson-Dixence hydroelectric complex seeks bids to sandblast and repaint the interior of a siphon at Z’Mutt pumping station, which is part of the giant project on Switzerland’s Rhone River. Bid documents must be obtained by January 23.

Grande Dixence SA, which owns the project with EOS Holding, seeks bids by March 14 for repair of anti-corrosive paint inside the Gorner Siphon at Zermatt on the Gorner Glacier, part of the Z’mutt pumping station. The work is to be carried out between November 2007 and April 2008.

Z’Mutt is one of five pumping stations, with Arolla, Stafel, Ferpecle, and Cleuson, that feed water to Cleuson-Dixence’s four power plants, 1,269-MW Bieudron, 290-MW Fionnay, 390-MW Nendaz, and 150-MW Chandoline. (HNN 12/22/06)
