RusHydro announces fiscal year 2018 operating results, increased hydro generation

RusHydro has released its operating results for the fourth quarter of 2018 and fiscal year 2018 and says its total production by hydropower and pumped storage plants was up 2.6% in 2018.

The 2,997-MW Boguchanskaya hydropower plant had record production output of 144,225 GWh in 2018, up 2.8% over 2017, thanks to higher inflows to reservoirs of the Volga-Kama cascade in the first half of the year and to reservoirs in Siberia in the second half of the year.

Boguchanskaya, on the Angara River, was filled to its designed capacity in June 2015. The first of its generating units was put into operation in 2012.

The company’s total installed electric capacity is 39,362.8 MW, an increase of 326 MW from 2017.

RusHydro is one of Russia’s largest generating companies, with more than 400 generating facilities.

Another of its hydro plants is 520-MW Nizhegorodskaya, which is being modernized to increase its cumulative capacity.
