Rwanda seeks environmental study of 27.5-MW Nyabarongo

Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure seeks bids from consultants to perform an environmental impact assessment of the 27.5-MW Nyabarongo hydroelectric project on Rwanda’s Nyabarongo River. Bids are due December 7.

Earlier this year, the ministry awarded a contract to Delphos International of the United States to help determine how Nyabarongo (also called Nyaborongo) and the 9-MW Rukarara project should be implemented and financed. (HNN 3/26/07) Nyabarongo is to be located between Ngororero District in Western Province and Muhanga District in Southern Province.

The National Tender Board invites consulting firms to submit technical and financial proposals for an environmental impact assessment study of the hydropower plant.
