Rwanda seeks inspection, supervision of 27.5-MW Nyabarongo

Rwanda’s Ministry of Infrastructure seeks bids from consultants to perform inspection and construction supervision of the 27.5-MW Nyabarongo hydroelectric project on Rwanda’s Nyabarongo River. Bids are due March 21.

Nyabarongo (also called Nyaborongo) is to be located between Ngororero District in Western Province and Muhanga District in Southern Province.

Late last year, Rwanda recruited consultants to perform an environmental impact assessment of the project. (HNN 11/16/07) Previously, the ministry awarded a contract to Delphos International of the United States to help determine how Nyabarongo and the 9-MW Rukarara project should be implemented and financed.

In the current solicitation, the ministry seeks a consultant to check studies and engineering documents, and inspect and supervise construction works implemented by a designated contractor. The National Tender Board invites consulting firms to submit technical and financial proposals.
