Swedish utility awards rehab contracts for 110-MW Torpshammar

Swedish utility Vattenfall AB Vattenkraft has awarded contracts to two companies to refurbish equipment at the 110-MW Torpshammar hydroelectric project on the Giman River.

Vattenfall awarded three contracts to ElektroSandberg AB of Sweden to replace or renovate parts of generators of Units G1 and G2, as well as mechanical equipment for gates, and electrical equipment and controls. (HNN 9/5/07)

The utility awarded a fourth contract to an affiliate, Vattenfall Service Nord AB, to replace or renovate parts of the turbines of Units G1 and G2.

There were six bidders for each of the contracts. Vattenfall called for the work to begin in March, with completion in 2009.
