Turbine rehab sought for Austria’s 112.8-MW Kaprun-Oberstufe

Verbund Austrian Hydro Power seeks bids for refurbishment of a turbine at the 112.8-MW Kaprun-Oberstufe pumped-storage project in Austria. Bids are due June 24.

Verbund already is seeking bids by June 12 for refurbishment of at least one storage pump at Kaprun-Oberstufe. (HNN 5/23/08) Built from 1947-1955, the plant is the upper stage of the Kaprun hydroelectric complex, which also includes 240-MW Kaprun-Hauptstufe, the main stage of the complex; and the 500-kW Klammsee project.

In the latest solicitation, the utility seeks major renovation of the project’s turbine No. 1.
