UETCL seeks design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of 103 kilometers of 220-kilovolt and 132-kilovolt transmission lines, a new substation, and upgrade three existing substations to deliver power from Bujagali Falls. (HNN 1/4/07) The project includes energy management and supervisory control and data acquisition systems, and telecommunication facilities.

Government-owned UETCL has signed a long-term agreement to buy electricity from Bujagali. The US$400 million hydro project is being developed on the Victoria Nile River by BEL, a consortium led by Industrial Promotion Services (Kenya) Ltd., a member of the Aga Khan Development network, and Sithe Global of the United States.
