Ukraine awards power meters contract for hydro plants

Ukraine utility OJSC UkrHydroEnergo has awarded a contract to a Russian firm to supply power meters for a metering system for hydroelectric plants.

UkrHydroEnergo awarded a US$298,666 contract to Elster Metronica of Moscow to supply meters for the power metering system for hydro plants, with a delivery period of six months.

Elster, which submitted an original bid of US$294,550, was chosen over two other bidders, Ukrgastech of the Ukraine bidding US$383,846 and Landis+Gyr AG of Switzerland bidding US$420,948. (HNN 11/8/07)

With a US$106 million World Bank loan, the government of the Ukraine is carrying out a hydropower rehabilitation program to improve operational stability and reliability of hydroelectric plants.

In June, UkrHydroEnergo awarded a contract to Ukraine turbine manufacturer Turboatom to supply five replacement turbines to three plants in the Dnipro (or Dneprovsk) River cascade: 361-MW Kyiv (or Kiev), 444-MW Kaniv, and 351-MW Kakhovka. (HNN 6/25/08)
