Ukraine seeks consultants for power sector, grid support

Ukraine national energy company UkrEnergo invites expressions of interest from consultants to help in procurement and project management for transmission and power sector improvements. Responses are due June 22.

Ukraine Deputy Fuel and Energy Minister Volodymyr Lushnikov said May 22 that UkrEnergo expects to sign a US$200 million World Bank funding agreement soon for power network development including construction of the 1,050-MW Dniester (or Dnister) pumped-storage project. (HNN 5/23/07) The World Bank indicated action on the Ukraine Power Transmission Project is expected in June.

The current solicitation focuses on rehabilitation of substations in the Dnieper and Donbas power grids, protective relays and automation, transmission line upgrades, and a management information system. Consultants are to prepare bid documents, conduct pre-proposal activity, evaluate proposals, draft contracts, and assist in project management.
