The United States has extended the deadline for proposals from consultants to study funding opportunities for energy diversification and efficiency projects, including hydropower, in Turkey.
United States Trade and Development Agency (TDA) extended the response deadline to November 14 from November 6, but also advised that it planned to revise its statement of work and likely would extend the deadline again. (HNN 10/27/08)
TDA seeks U.S.-based consultants to carry out the assessment mission for an estimated cost between US$150,000 and US$200,000. The mission is to:
o Assist Turkey in developing an energy strategy that reflects its economic needs and energy security requirements; and
o Provide TDA recommendations on activities that TDA might support that would help Turkey carry out its energy strategy and open commercial opportunities for U.S. firms.
TDA said the mission will evaluate a wide range of investment options to meet Turkey’s power needs through 2030 and make general recommendations on a mix of technologies, including gas, coal, hydropower, other renewables, and imports from Georgia and Romania.
The consultant team is to consist of specialists in energy sector planning; hydropower, in particular rehabilitation of existing plants; thermal power plants; energy efficiency; and transmission and distribution of both power and natural gas.
