UPDATE – Corps seeks electrical work at 600-MW Richard B. Russell

The Corps of Engineers seeks bids to install static starters and main circuit breakers at its 600-MW Richard B. Russell hydro plant, on the Savannah River system in Georgia. Bids are due July 27.

The Corps seeks a contractor to remove and dispose of equipment and to install a government-furnished static frequency converter system for four reversible pumped-storage units and new SF6 main circuit breakers on all eight units in the powerhouse.

The Corps issued a pre-solicitation for the same work in January 2006, but held up the solicitation due to a lack of funding. (HNN 6/14/07) It intends to award a fixed-price contract valued at between $1 million and $5 million.

Solicitation No. W912HN-07-R-0030 can be obtained from the Federal Technical Data Solutions (FedTeDS) Internet site, www.fedteds.gov. For information, contact Marian Alviar, Corps of Engineers, P.O. Box 889, Savannah, GA 31402-0889; (1) 912-652-5539; E-mail: marian.c.alviar@sas02.usace.army.mil.
