Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) has reissued a solicitation, and extended the bidding deadline, for construction of civil works of the 40-MW Nadarivatu hydroelectric project on an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) basis. The deadline is extended to April 4 from the original March 14 date.
The proposed project includes a 35-meter-tall weir on the Sigatoka River catchment at Korolevu; 3.5 kilometers of tunnel and penstock, and a powerhouse on the Ba River containing two 20-MW Pelton turbine-generators for a head of 300 meters.
FEA is seeking bids for two contracts, including the current solicitation, FEA/NHP-01, EPC Contract for Civil Works – MR 77/2007. (HNN 12/5/07) The deadline extension matches the April 4 bidding deadline for a separate solicitation for FEA/NHP-02, EPC Contract for Powerhouse &Transmission Works ï¿½ MR 78/2007. (HNN 1/24/08)
Bidders may bid for one or both contracts and may propose discounts in their letter of bid in case they should subsequently be awarded both contracts.
The current solicitation, EPC Contract for Civil Works, includes:
o Establishment and operation of a construction camp;
o Korolevu Weir: a concrete gravity weir (135,000 cubic meters of excavation, 35,000 cubic meters of concrete), three radial spillway gates, two low-level sluice gates, one residual flow control valve, control building;
o Nadarivatu Water Conveyance System: an intake with screens, intake gate, stoplogs, and screen cleaner adjacent to Korolevu Weir, with one of two conveyance options: Option 1, low-pressure and high-pressure tunnels, or Option 2, a low-pressure tunnel and high-pressure penstock;
o Project-wide road construction and maintenance through project duration, including transmission line road;
o Other works as described in bid documents and project drawings on the FEA tender Internet site, www.evalua.com.au/fea.
