UPDATE – French utility extends civil work bidding to expand 96-MW Gambsheim

Electricite de France (EDF) has extended the deadline for bids to perform civil construction to add another generating unit at the 96-MW Gambsheim hydroelectric project on the Rhine River.

The civil works deadline was extended to May 13 from May 4. The utility also seeks bids for electrical equipment by May 15. (HNN 4/1/09) EDF previously took bids for supply and installation of a bulb-type turbine-generator of about 28 megavolt-amperes and related equipment including speed and voltage controls at the project in France’s Alsace Province. On behalf of Central Electrique Rhenane de Gambsheim, EDF now seeks bids by May 13 for civil construction to add the fifth unit to Gambsheim. Civil works are to include cofferdam, earthworks, demolition, concrete, access works, and water intake and return.

EDF seeks bids by noon May 15 to supply electrical equipment to interconnect the new Gambsheim unit. Equipment includes a transformer, circuit breakers, cables, and related equipment.
