UPDATE – French utility seeks additional unit for 96-MW Gambsheim

Electricite de France (EDF) seeks bids for an additional generating unit for the 96-MW Gambsheim hydroelectric project on the Rhine River in France’s Alsace Province. Bids are due March 16.

EDF previously said it planned to issue a solicitation for civil and mechanical works for the new unit at Gambsheim, one of several projects in an ongoing EDF rehabilitation program. (HNN 1/5/09) Construction is expected to occur between 2010 and 2013.

On behalf of Central Electrique Rhenane de Gambsheim, EDF seeks supply and installation of a bulb-type turbine-generator of about 28 megavolt-amperes and related equipment including speed and voltage controls, as well as general mechanical equipment such as exhaust systems, compressed air, refrigeration, and fire protection systems.
