UPDATE – Kenya extends bid date for new unit at 44-MW Kindaruma

Kenya Electricity Generating Co. Ltd. (KenGen) has extended the deadline for bids for a third turbine-generator and rehabilitation of the 44-MW Kindaruma hydroelectric project on Kenya’s Tana River. Bids now are due April 30.

Bids previously were due March 18. (HydroWorld 1/15/09) Kindaruma is one of the Seven Forks hydro projects on the Tana, which also include 144-MW Kiambere, 40-MW Masinga (HydroWorld 1/13/09), 94.2-MW Kamburu, and 225-MW Gitaru.

With funding from Germany’s KfW Entwicklungsbank, KenGen seeks bids for design, manufacture, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of a third generating unit and the rehabilitation of the Kindaruma power station, 170 kilometers from Nairobi.

Tender documents may be obtained from the Supply Chain Manager address below for US$65 or equivalent local currency in cash or bankers check to Kenya Electricity Generating Co. Ltd.
