Macedonia’s Ministry of Economy has extended the application deadline to pre-qualify for concessions to develop 12 hydropower projects on the Vardar River totaling 325 MW. Responses now are due June 30.
The ministry previously called for applications for pre-qualification by March 16 for the 12 projects, which previously were estimated to total 308.24 MW. (HNN 11/20/08)
The ministry seeks to pre-qualify companies for implementation of concessions for development, construction, operation, and transfer of 12 hydro projects on the Vardar. In 2007, it offered design-build-operate-transfer concessions for 60 sites in the Vardar, Strumica, and Crni Drim river basins. (HNN 2/16/07)
Projects offered are listed as 10.6-MW Babuna, 23.9-MW D. Kapija, 17.8-MW Dubrovo, 16-MW Gavato, 15.54-MW Gevgely, 56.8-MW Gradec, 13.1-MW Gradsko, 19.5-MW Krivolak, 12.3-MW Kukuricani, 17-MW Miletkovo, 94-MW Veles, and 11.7-MW Zgropolci.
The ministry said qualifying companies must present evidence that the interested party or leader of the consortium has total assets exceeding 10 billion euros (US$12.5 billion) at the end of the last fiscal year, total revenue exceeding 6 billion euros (US$7.5 billion) on a cumulative basis in the last three fiscal years, and total profit exceeding 650 million euros (US$812.4 million) on a cumulative basis in the last three fiscal years.
