UPDATE – NHA extends deadline for Outstanding Stewards program

The National Hydropower Association has extended the due date for the submittal of applications for its Outstanding Stewards of America’s Waters awards program.

The new deadline is Dec. 31, extended from Dec. 15. (HNN 11/3/08)

The program recognizes organizations and projects in the United States and Canada committed to excellence in the development and operation of hydropower. NHA formed the program in 2007 by merging its Hydro Achievement Awards and Outstanding Stewardship of America’s Rivers programs. (HNN 11/8/06)

NHA said as many as three awards will be presented from three categories: operational excellence; public education; and recreational, environmental, and historical enhancement. Applications will be judged on information provided for activities undertaken during 2008.

Applications are due Dec. 31. Award winners will be notified the week of Feb. 8, 2009. Awards are to be presented during NHA’s 2009 Annual Conference, May 11-13, in Washington.
