UPDATE – Tender of 444-MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti canceled, to reissue

Tehri Hydro Development Corp. Ltd. has canceled pre-qualification for an engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) contract for the 444-MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti hydroelectric project on the Alaknanda River.

At the time of cancellation, responses were due August 31, a deadline extended from an initial due date of June 29. (HNN 6/27/07)

Prospective bidders were invited to watch for issuance of separate procurement notices for two EPC packages, one for civil works and hydro-mechanical equipment, and one for electro-mechanical equipment.

Vishnugad Pipalkoti, in India’s Uttarakhand State, is to include a 65-meter-tall concrete gravity dam, 13.4-kilometer headrace tunnel, desilting chambers, underground powerhouse, transformer cavern, and 3-kilometer tailrace tunnel.

Hydro-mechanical works are to include radial and vertical gates, hoisting arrangements for spillways and intakes, and penstock steel liners. Electro-mechanical works are to include four vertical Francis turbine-generators of 111 MW each; 13 single-phase, 46-MVa, 13.8/400-kV transformers; and 420-kV GIS, XLPE cables, and control system.
