UPDATE – U.S. extends bids a fourth time for 17.29-MW Green Springs

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended for a fourth time the due date for bids to replace transformers and modify a switchyard at the 17.29-MW Green Springs hydropower plant, part of the Rogue River Basin Project in Oregon. The new due date is Jan. 8, 2009.

Bids originally were due Nov. 21 and the date subsequently was extended to Dec. 5, Dec. 12, and Jan. 6. (HNN 12/10/08)

The contractor is to furnish and install a 20-megavolt-ampere power transformer, motor-operated disconnect switch, coupling-capacitor voltage transformers, station-service power transformer, metal-clad switchgear assembly, and phase bus. Work will include removal of existing transformers at PacifiCorp’s Green Springs substation.

BuRec estimates the work will cost from $1 million to $5 million. It plans to award the work by negotiated acquisition, rather than sealed bid.

The power plant began service in 1960 near Ashland, Ore.

Solicitation No. 09SP101681 is available on the Interior Department’s Electronic Acquisition System Internet site, www.ideasec.nbc.gov. Enter the solicitation number in the Quick Search box to find the document.

Proposals are due Jan. 6 to BuRec’s Pacific Northwest Regional Office, 1150 N. Curtis Road, Suite 100, Boise, ID 83706-1234. For information, contact Becky Bailey, Contract Specialist, (1) 208-378-5107; E-mail: bbailey@pn.usbr.gov.
