The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the due date for bids to install unit control modernization equipment for 26 large generating units at 2,078.8-MW Hoover Dam, 255-MW Davis Dam, and 120-MW Parker Dam on the Colorado River. The new due date is June 12.
BuRec originally set June 5 as the deadline for proposals. (HNN 5/8/07) It wants a contractor to install unit controls, governor controls, relay protection, and voltage regulators at Hoover in Arizona and Nevada, Davis in Arizona, and Parker in California.
The contractor is to remove and dispose of equipment, and to install government-supplied equipment, including new cabinets, governor components, conduit, cabling, and wiring. The contractor also is to provide support during commissioning and testing of the new equipment. Task orders defining work requirements and schedule requirements will be awarded for every phase of work to be completed by the contractor.
The estimated contract price range is $1 million to $5 million; the estimated range for task orders is $25,000 to $100,000.
BuRec issued an amendment to the solicitation May 24, to extend the date of receipt of offers, and to provide notes from a pre-proposal conference and site visit.
In October 2006, BuRec awarded a $5.7 million fabrication contract to L&S Electric Inc. for another aspect of the modernization program for the units. L&S will design, fabricate, and commission the unit control modernization equipment.
