The Corps of Engineers seeks bids to rewind ten generators at 980-MW McNary Dam on the Columbia River in Oregon. Bids are due June 16.
The Corps said it plans to complete two installations within six months, each year for five years. (HNN 4/23/09) The work will involve Units 1 through 4 and 7 through 12 and is expected to cost more than $10 million. The contractor must begin work within 14 days after it receives a notice to proceed and complete it by Dec. 31, 2014.
The contractor is to design, manufacture, and deliver stator bars and accessories; disassemble and reassemble generators; remove old stator coils; install and test new stator windings and accessories; remove old turbine shaft sleeves and install new shaft sleeves on each unit; furnish, install, and test new switches, temperature read-outs, and automatic control of unit heaters for ten units; and remove and dispose of existing rotating exciters.
A mandatory site visit is planned for May 27. Bidders planning to attend must register at Corps Internet site www.nww.usace.army.mil/apps/csvr.
