U.S. plans turbine work at 2,160-MW John Day

The Corps of Engineers plans to issue a solicitation about Sept. 1 for turbine runner parts for Unit 16 of 2,160-MW John Day Dam on the Columbia River in Oregon. Bids are expected to be due Sept. 20.

Work is to include casting and rough machining of bronze bushings, applying self-lubricating material on the bushings, and fabricating and final machining of steel parts, including forgings, structural steel, castings, and specialty steel.

Solicitation No. W9127N-06-Q-0138 is to be issued on the Federal Technical Data Solution (FedTeDS) Internet page, www.fedteds.gov. Bidders must register on the site and on the Central Contractor Registration database, www.ccr.gov.
