U.S. reissues excitation tender for 10-MW Fontenelle

The Bureau of Reclamation has reissued a solicitation for bids to supply a static excitation system at the 10-MW Fontenelle project on the Green River in Wyoming. Proposals are due March 10.

BuRec’s Upper Colorado Region previously called for bids for the work by Sept. 11, 2008. (HNN 8/22/08) However, it subsequently canceled that solicitation.

The new solicitation again seeks the work at Fontenelle Dam, about 24 miles southeast of La Barge, Wyo. The powerhouse began operation in 1968.

Work includes removal of the existing static pilot excitation system for the plant’s single generating unit, including asbestos-insulated wiring. The contractor also is to modify a rotating direct current exciter and furnish and install a new static pilot excitation system, including power potential transformer, circuit breakers, digital voltage and associated limiters, instrumentation, protection, and control components.

The solicitation may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. 09SP408275 in the Quick Search box. Bidders must register in the government’s Central Contractor Registration database, www.ccr.gov.

Proposals are due March 10. For information, contact Dick Beeman, Upper Colorado Regional Office, Bureau of Reclamation – SLC, 125 S. State St., Room 6107, Salt Lake City, UT 84138; (1) 801-524-3634; E-mail: rbeeman@uc.usbr.gov.
