Utility awards runner design contract for 907-MW Priest Rapids

Grant County Public Utility District announced it would award a $128,000 contract to an independent laboratory based in Austria to design and manufacture model runners for 907-MW Priest Rapids Dam.

Grant County PUD commissioners approved a resolution April 9 authorizing the district to execute a contract with Anstalt fuer Stroemungsmaschinen GmbH (ASTROE) of Graz, Austria. The contractor will perform the work specified as part of a program to upgrade turbines at Priest Rapids powerhouse.

The powerhouse is one of two power plants in the 1,893-MW Priest Rapids project (No. 2114) on the Columbia River in Washington. (HNN 3/30/07)

State issues water quality certificate to advance relicensing

The Washington Department of Ecology issued a final water quality certificate April 3, necessary for relicensing Priest Rapids.

The district said the Clean Water Act Section 401 certification is one of the last milestones that must be completed before The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission can relicense the project. (HNN 12/8/06)
