Utility seeks bids to model turbines at 907-MW Priest Rapids

Grant County Public Utility District No. 2 seeks proposals for the design and manufacture of model runners for 907-MW Priest Rapids Dam, on the Columbia River in Washington. Bids are due Jan. 16.

The district calls for professional services that also include design and drawing development for water passageway models that will be used in developing and evaluating the hydraulic design for turbine replacements.

Grant County PUD is preparing to initiate a major rehabilitation of existing vertical-shaft Kaplan units at the Priest Rapids powerhouse, part of the 1,893-MW Priest Rapids project (No. 2114). (HNN 12/8/06) It anticipates the rehabilitation could include replacing runners and embedded parts, and modifying or replacing distributors.

Bid documents for solicitation No. 230-2366 are available at the district’s Ebid Internet site, http://grantpud.ebidsystems.com. Vendors must register in the electronic vendor system.
