Vietnam seeks resettlement specialist for 156-MW Song Bung 4

Song Bung 4 Hydropower Project Management Board invites expressions of interest from consultants to serve as resettlement specialist for the 156-MW Song Bung 4 hydroelectric project in Vietnam’s Quang Nam Province. Responses are due March 23.

The Asian Development Bank is considering a proposal to provide US$196.5 million in funding for construction of Song Bung 4 on the Song Bung River. Electricity of Vietnam invited applications for pre-qualification in December 2008 to provide engineering and civil works for the project. (HydroWorld 10/16/08)

The current solicitation seeks resettlement management support over five person-months for relocation and compensation activities in four communities in the Song Bung 4 inundation area.

Song Bung 4 includes a 110-meter-tall, 367-meter-long dam with reservoir of 15.8 square kilometers, a 3.1-kilometer tunnel, and short tailrace canal.

Expressions of interest are due March 23. Work is expected to begin in April and run through September.
