Voith Siemens to modernize two Italian plants

Compagnia Valdostana delle Acque awarded a contract to Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation to modernize the 27-MW Champagne 2 and 29-MW Chatillon hydroelectric projects on the Dora Baltea River in Italy’s Aosta Province.

Work includes upgrading of three turbine-generators of Champagne 2, which was built in 1938, and two units of Chatillon, which was built in 1940. Both plants are operated remotely from Pont St. Martin.

Voith Siemens was one of two suppliers who competed for the contract.
