Westberg joins marine power group Minesto

Marine power technology developer Minesto has appointed Dr. Heije Westberg as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Swedish company announced.

Westberg has previously held a number of positions within the Volvo Group, including manager for Volvo Technology AB’s Department of Energy Conversion and Technology Advisor for Energy Efficiency & Environment within the company’s truck operation.

She has also served as chairman of the Volvo Key Technology Council for Emerging Technologies, and she is currently Deputy Chairman of Division IV of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Minesto said Westberg will now be responsible for managing the company’s research and development efforts by using her “pronounced strategic and organizing abilities”.

Minesto is currently developing a marine energy power plant it calls “Deep Green“, which is undergoing testing in Northern Ireland’s Strangford Lough.

“I look forward to working with Minesto and the company’s many talented employees,” Westberg said. “It is exciting to work with new technology that can make a big difference in the transition to a greener world.”
