The Bureau of Reclamation plans to take bids for overhaul of three generating units in the Third Power Plant at the 6,809-MW Grand Coulee hydroelectric project.
The bureau plans to seek bids for overhaul of units G-22, G-23, and G-24 at the Third Power Plant on the Columbia River, about 90 miles west of Spokane, Wash.
The agency recently took bids to replace six governors and associated equipment in the Third Power Plant. (HydroWorld 2/10/10) It also awarded contracts to ABB Inc. to replace excitation systems of six generating units (HydroWorld 3/3/10) and to Alstom Hydro for stator repair on Generator G-19. (HydroWorld 2/15/10) MWH Americas Inc. was hired to plan and manage the proposed overhaul of Units G-19 through G-24 that have been in service since the mid-1970s.
The latest solicitation is to include disassembling generators and turbines, overhauling and refurbishing or replacing components, and reassembling the units. The work is valued at more than $10 million.
The bureau plans to issue a solicitation about April 29 on the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov. A pre-solicitation notice may be obtained from the site by entering Solicitation No. R10PS10048 in the “Keyword/Solicitation #” box. Prospective contractors must register in the government’s Central Contractor Registration database, www.ccr.gov.
