Association of State Dam Safety Officials calls for abstracts for upcoming forum

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Association of State Dam Safety Officials are hosting the Third Annual National Dam Security Forum in conjunction with Dam Safety 2010 Sept. 19-23 in Seattle, Wash., at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center.

The forum will provide participants with information regarding many aspects of dam safety, security and protection and will serve to enhance the capabilities of state dam safety officials, owners and operators, and other dam stakeholders, ASDSO said.

Engineers, geologists, hydrologists, dam operators and owners, government officials, industry professionals, students and others are invited to submit abstracts for consideration for the forum. Topics cover a range of subjects, from risk management to explosive device response operations, cybersecurity and vulnerability assessment.

All abstracts must be received by or postmarked Feb. 15, 2010, and final papers are due July 18, 2010.
