Corps awards contract for rock removal at Bonneville

PORTLAND, Ore., 2/15/12 (PennWell) — J.E. McAmis, Inc., has been awarded a contract worth US$77,294 by the U.S. Corps of Engineers for the emergency removal of rock debris at Bonneville Dam.

The Corps’ Portland District last sought bids for work at the 1,076.6-MW hydroelectric project in January. The dam is located on the Columbia River.

As per terms of the contract, J.E. McAmis, Inc., is to remove rock debris that has been depositing between the flow deflectors and baffle blocks in the dam’s stilling basin. The work involves the removal of 550 cubic yards of rock from 30 to 40 feet of water in each spillway bay.
