U.S. dam safety group seeks proposals for computer animations

The Association of State Dam Safety Officials seeks statements of qualifications and proposals to create computer animations of typical types of dams, dam failure modes, and other educational graphics. Proposals are due April 15.

ASDSO said it plans a new project to create computer animations for Powerpoint presentations and for website use that will illustrate various dam failure modes and how different kinds of dams are constructed and operated. The national dam safety organization says the animations could be used on its Internet site, at dam owner workshops and seminars, and for public awareness or student presentations.

The group seeks responses from engineering consulting firms, research groups, academics, and others.

The solicitation can be obtained from Lori Spragens, Executive Director, (1) 859-257-5140; E-mail: lspragens@damsafety.org. It also can be obtained from the Internet at: www.damsafety.org/media/documents/PDF/RFQ-Failure%20Modes.pdf.

Proposals are due April 15 to ASDSO, Computer Animation Proposals, 450 Old Vine St., Second Floor, Lexington, KY 40507.
