Albania seeks bids for substation refurbishment

Albanian utility Korporata Elektroenergjetike Shqiptare (KESH) seeks bids for replacement equipment at three substations. Bids are due by January 22.

KESH previously announced it would seek bids for substation equipment for the Albanian transmission grid and several hydroelectric projects. (HNN 6/21/06) KESH applied for a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to help fund US$52 million in substation rehabilitation.

In the current solicitation, KESH plans to procure:
o Lot 1: Supply and installation of equipment for Elbasan 1, Fier, and Tirana 1 substations, and control, monitoring, and protection system for Fier; and
o Lot 2: Supply and installation of 120-megavolt-ampere autotransformers for Elbasan 1 substation.

Bidding documents, in English, may be obtained from the address below for 300 euros (US$382) by direct deposit to account No. ECSEE-APL2 No. 38551 at Bank Popullore, Tirana. Documents will be delivered by DHL. Bidders are encouraged to participate in a scheduled pre-bid meeting and site visit.
