Alltech to refurbish gates at 51.75-MW Seminoe, 36-MW Kortes

The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $4.6 million contract to Alltech Engineering Corp. for maintenance at the 51.75-MW Seminoe and 36-MW Kortes hydroelectric plants in Wyoming.

Beginning in July, Alltech, of Mendota Heights, Minn., is to rehabilitate gates that control the flow of water into penstocks leading to the powerhouses.

BuRec’s Great Plains Regional Office said June 16 that three gate assemblies at each project will be repaired and their water-bearing metal surfaces coated over three years. The contractor also is to coat the interior surfaces of penstocks at both projects.

The projects, in south-central Wyoming, are part of a series of facilities that control and store water on the North Platte River for generation, irrigation, flood control, and recreation.
