Basler Electric announces it has become an official partner of Power Africa.

Power Africa was launched in 2013. Its goal — working with more than 170 public and private sector partners — is to add 30 GW of cleaner, more efficient electricity generation capacity and 60 million new home and business connections throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Nearly two out of three people in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access to electricity, which limits access to quality health care, education and economic opportunities for more than 600 million people.

Power Africa has delivered first-time electricity to 103.5 million people across sub-Saharan Africa and connected nearly 22 million homes and businesses to on- and off-grid energy solutions.

Projects Power Africa has supported include small hydro projects in Zambia being developed by the Energy Regulation Board, through its Southern Africa Energy Programme.

Basler manufactures excitation systems, voltage regulators, genset controls, protective relays, and other products for the control and management of electric power worldwide.
