Bosnia seeks environmental implementation, promotion of small hydro

On behalf of the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) seeks expressions of interest from consultants to implement an environmental assessment and to help promote small hydropower projects on the Cetina and Trebizat rivers. Responses are due December 4.

In cooperation with the Canadian International Development Agency, EBRD has a budget of 150,000 euros (US$219,930) to hire a consultant registered in Canada. Up to 20 percent of the final contract value may be used to retain local experts from EBRD countries of operation.

EBRD seeks a consultant to support Bosnia and Herzegovina in implementation of a strategic environmental assessment to contribute to decision making, specifically in the development of small hydro projects in the Cetina and Trebizat basins.

The consultant is to provide a forum for stakeholders, provide potential investors information on appropriate locations and types of hydro facilities, assist in appraising project proposals, and identify obstacles and benefits. Work is to require 12 months with possibility of extension and expansion to wind power projects.
