Control refurbishment sought for four Swedish projects

Fortum Generation AB invites applications for pre-qualification to refurbish control and protection systems for four hydroelectric projects totaling 189 MW. Responses are due April 5.

Fortum said it is in the process of rehabilitation work at the 120-MW Jarpstrommens project on the Indalsalven River. Because Jarpstrommens has common control systems with three other plants on the Indalsalven, it decided to refurbish the systems at all four plants, which were built between 1944 and 1978.

Jarpstrommens has three 40-MW turbine-generators. The other three plants have single generating units: 28-MW Anjans, 15-MW Juvelns, and 26-MW Torrons. Work is to be carried out in 2008-2009.

Documents may be obtained from the address below. Applications for pre-qualification, in Swedish, are due by April 5. Fortum plans to invite bids April 19 from a short-list of three to eight companies.
