DRC seeks equipment to refurbish 28.2-MW Ruzizi 1

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) seeks bids for electro-mechanical equipment for the rehabilitation of the 28.2-MW Ruzizi 1 hydroelectric project on the Ruzizi River. Bids are due March 31.

DRC agency MODRU seeks bids to supply, assemble, and bring into service the electro-mechanical equipment needed to rehabilitate the project.

The European Union agreed in 2007 to provide US$4.1 million for studies of the proposed 82-MW Ruzizi 3 and 205-MW Ruzizi 4 hydroelectric projects on the Ruzizi between Rwanda and the DRC. The work also includes study of how to coordinate exploitation of Ruzizi hydropower potential by the existing Ruzizi 1 and 40-MW Ruzizi 2 projects and by future possible stations. (HNN 11/19/07)
