Ecuador to further work on 21.8-MW Soldados-Yanuncay hydro project

Ecuadoran state power generator Elecaustro plans to begin studies this year for its 21.8-MW Soldados-Yanuncay hydro project.

The company has invited Lombardi-Andina, Acotecnic, Ctotal, Raster, Ingestruct and Inypsa to submit offers for the work at month-end.

The 120-day contract covers design, technical specifications and investment for the run-of-river plant, which would be built in Azuay Province and use water from the Yanuncay River in the Paute river basin.

Elecaustro secured the environmental license for the project in 2016 and the operation authorization contract the following year.

More recently, the company signed a 120-day contract with Propraxis to map stakeholders in the area of influence.
