Gissarak hydropower plant begins operation in Uzbekistan

Operations have begun at the Gissarak hydro plant in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, according to wire reports.

The 45-MW hydropower plant is located on the Aksu River. The project’s cost is about $30 million, with financing carried out at the expense of owner Uzvodenergo, wire services reported.

In other news, Brazilian utility sector regulator Aneel has authorized test operations at the 27-MW Goiandira small hydropower plant.

The hydropower plant, owned by local power firm Goias Sul Geracao de Energia, is located in the center-western state of Goias. The plant has two 13.5-MW turbines, reports indicate.
