Italian utility seeks engineering to refurbish four plants

Italian power generator Edipower SpA invites applications for pre-qualification to provide engineering services for the rehabilitation of four hydroelectric projects. Responses are due January 25.

Edipower seeks engineering services for basic design and turnkey contracting of refurbishment of hydro projects in Lombardia, Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Campania. The projects have unit installed capacities ranging from 7 MW to 70 MW.

The company plans to seek bids on two lots of work covering on-site facilities inside the plant fences, and off-site facilities from intakes to the plant fences. Work is to include general engineering and drafting, data collection, assessing equipment to be retained, constructability assessment, release of bid packages, bid evaluations, and negotiations.

On-site facilities engineering is to be carried out from April 2007 to December 2008. Off-site facilities engineering is to be carried out from January to December 2008.

Applications for pre-qualification, in English or Italian, are due January 25. Edipower plans to send bid invitations February 12 to a maximum of five pre-qualified firms.
