FERC plans dam safety conference

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission announced it will conduct a technical conference on dam safety with federal, state, and industry dam safety representatives on Dec. 5.

FERC commissioners will attend and participate in the conference, which is open to the public. Advance registration is not required.

FERC said participants will discuss components of FERC’s dam safety program, and current state and industry activities. They also will explore challenges facing state dam safety offices to identify needed technical and resource assistance.

The conference is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commission Meeting Room at FERC’s offices at 888 First St., N.E., Washington, D.C.

A free Internet webcast of the event will be available through www.ferc.gov under �Calendar of Events.� The calendar listing will contain a link to its webcast. Transcripts will be available from FERC’s eLibrary system and on Calendar of Events about a week after the meeting.
