ANDRITZ to supply electromechanical equipment for 624-MW Kiru hydropower in India

ANDRITZ has received an order from the Indian utility Chenab Valley Power Projects (P) Ltd. to supply the complete electromechanical equipment for the 624-MW Kiru hydropower plant on the Chenab River in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, India.

The contract has an order value of more than €50 million (US$56.3 million), ANDRITZ says.

The order comprises the supply, design, manufacturing, erection, testing and commissioning of four units (turbines and generators), auxiliary electrical and mechanical equipment, and 400-kV GIS and 400-kV outdoor pothead yard equipment. The contract will be executed by ANDRITZ’s Indian subsidiary, with manufacturing facilities in Mandideep and Prithla.

The run-of-river Kiru hydropower plant addresses the energy deficiency in the northern part of India. It will bring clean renewable energy to the rural area and enable industrial development in the region.
