Equipment contract awarded for Corsica’s 55-MW Rizzanese

Electricite de France (EDF) has awarded a contract to Alstom Hydro Espana to supply turbine-generators and other equipment for the 55-MW Rizzanese hydroelectric project on the Mediterranean island of Corsica.

The Alstom Hydro unit is to supply two 27.5-MW vertical-axis Pelton turbines and generators, spherical valves, governors, and excitation systems. (HNN 5/3/07)

EDF plans civil work including a powerhouse, re-regulation basin, and 5,000-meter-long tunnel as part of the new Rizzanese project it is building on Corsica, a department of France.
