Italian utility awards equipment contract for Torrent project

Italian hydro operator Valdigne Energie srl has awarded a contract to an Italian unit of Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation to supply turbine-generators and other equipment for the new Torrent hydroelectric project.

A.T.I. Voith Siemens Hydro Power Generation S.P.A. was chosen in competition with one other bidder to equip Torrent, being built near La Thuile and Pre Saint Didier, Italy. (HNN 2/13/07)

The contractor is to supply two Pelton turbines with vertical-axis generators, command and control equipment, and station transformers.
