Lufkin Industries acquires Rotating Machinery Technology

Lufkin Industries Inc., which sells and maintains power transmission products, has acquired Rotating Machinery Technology Inc. of Wellsville, New York.

RMT, a longtime supplier for Lufkin, designs and manufactures custom-engineered tilting-pad bearings and related components for high-speed turbo equipment. It also services, repairs, and upgrades turbo-expander process units for air and gas separation both on site and at its repair facility in Wellsville.

“RMT will provide the opportunity to increase the value-added engineering capabilities and after-market support that Lufkin Industries offers to its customers,” Lufkin President John F. Glick said.

John Nicholas, founder of RMT and a leading expert in bearing design, will remain with the company and serve as general manager.

Lufkin also sells and maintains oilfield pumping equipment and foundry castings throughout the world.
