Skyward Construction wins Corps contract for John Day work

PORTLAND, Ore. 5/1/12 (PennWell) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract worth US$1.1 million to Skyward Construction Inc. for work at the 2,164-MW John Day hydroelectric project.

The Corps most recently called for bids in February 2012 for work that includes parts and servicing.

As per the contract, Skyward Construction will provide material and labor to ensure the station service and Bay 9 elevators meet code. In addition, shafts are to be upgraded to proper fire rating and new electrical and mechanical equipment will be provided for each elevator.

The Corps issued a solicitation for bids from small businesses to perform fish counting at John Day in April.
