The U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind and Hydropower Technologies Program has extended its due date for proposals for research, testing, or product development partnerships in wind and ocean energy technologies. The new due date is Nov. 26.
Proposals originally were due Nov. 5. (HNN 10/12/07)
The Cooperative Research and Development Agreement partnerships are expected to leverage industry experience and needs with the National Renewable Energy and Sandia National laboratories’ technology research and development expertise.
The partnerships will work to solve industry questions about utility-scale wind technologies. Subject to fiscal year 2008 congressional appropriations for an Ocean Energy Program, the partnerships also will work on ocean energy technologies, DOE said.
The Energy Department said the Wind and Hydropower Technologies Program has budgeted about $1 million for laboratory-based technical support for the agreements. It expects to budget funding for the next fiscal year for additional proposal calls.

Energy Department offers ocean energy technology grants
The Energy Department also is offering grants for ocean energy technology from the department’s Small Business Innovative Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs. The deadline for receipt of grant applications for both programs is Nov. 27.
Grant applications are sought for wave energy converters, hydrokinetic turbines, and thermal energy conversion systems. Eligible projects would include: new concept designs; plans to advance a concept to scale model testing; plans to advance a scale model design to full-scale open water testing; and plans to advance a prototype to full-scale demonstration.
